Common Questions

Some information you should know before starting any project.

How much does a website cost?

Price ranges on websites will vary from designer to designer. There are lots of variables to take into account. Most people will give you a short answer – “It depends,"and that’s true.

Prices for websites vary quite a bit depending on what features you need, yet they still fall within a general range. More information below.

Is copywriting included?

Currently copywriting is not included but I can help guide you through the process with my content collector to make sure your voice is strong to capture your audience's attention. If you need copyrighting resources, see my resources page.

Do you offer payment plans?

I request 50% of the design fee up front and 50% after the project is completed, along with any additional fees if incurred.

Can I get a custom built site for less than $1000?

The short answer, Yes. However, you probably won’t like what you get. The lowest prices you’ll find for a fully custom website would be around $400-$500, which will most likely come from overseas.

These websites are notoriously of very low quality, and will do little to help your business succeed. Online marketing in North America is incredibly competitive. If you’re looking to be successful and actually make money online, a higher quality site will give you a distinct advantage.

What if I find a designer that wants to be paid hourly?

Hourly contracts are not particularly uncommon with some freelancers, but if you are working on a big project – be careful. The costs can quickly get out of hand if your designer hits a roadblock. I would suggest to avoid an hourly rate if you can on bigger projects. If you choose to move ahead with an hourly rate, make sure you have a contract in place that limits the number of hours you can be charged within a specific phase of the project.

Standard Hourly Rates
International work: $5-$40
Intermediate Freelance: $25-$70
Professional Designer: $45-$120

Are there other costs to owning a website?

Yes, here are a few common ones
• Web hosting: $10-$50 a month
• Domain registration: $10-$50 a year
• Plugin Subscriptions (varies in price)

Is there anything I need to do before the website start date?

You will need to purchase your domain and supply all copy and images which will be used. You will receive a website planner to help guide you through the process. We will discuss hosting options that best fits your project.

What happens after my site is launched and I need help?

I provide my clients with three (3) months of coverage after launch date of any website to ensure a smooth transition. I can also provide a training video and other tutorials to guide you through managing your site on your own. If you don't want to do any updates on your own, I have packages available for regular and occasional maintenance if needed.
